Skala village

At the southernmost point of the island is Skala, the village with the largest tourist development thanks to the large, sandy and organized beach with crystal clear waters. In recent decades Skala has found its "tourist" pace and many visitors visit it every year. In the evenings visitors take walks in the busy center of the village as well as on the beach. There is a choice between many taverns, bars and tourist shops. A romantic walk on the beach at night, on full moon days, will be unforgettable. The moon rises big and impressive from the sea and everything is bathed in the golden light of the moon. The center of Skala is separated from the beach by a strip of pine forest that gives coolness and creates a very pleasant environment in the coastal zone . The village square with benches in the shade of pine trees is a good meeting point overlooking the sea and the village. Every day small cruise ships depart from the beach for organized excursions on the neighboring islands of Ithaca and Zakynthos and also for Fiskardo in northern Kefalonia.
